Homemade Garlic Bread (Spread)

Recently I was searching for meal ideas so I could make a list for the grocery store when I came up with an idea that required me to be able to make a quick and simple homemade garlic bread. I did a google search, and man, are there some kind of complicated garlic bread recipes out there. I didn’t want to make the bread itself, I just wanted to know what I needed to slather on some bread that would result in garlic bread when all toasted up.

After a little bit of google searching, I found the following garlic spread recipe on Cooks.com. It looked simple, and I had all the ingredients on hand already! Like the reviewer on the original recipe mentioned, the mayonnaise seems like an odd addition, but it works. The mayonnaise (or Miracle Whip, as I used) adds some depth to the flavor and makes the spread a little creamier.

Of course, I used the spread to make traditional garlic bread to go with an Italian dinner that I made, but stay tuned in the next couple weeks to see what else I did with it.

Spread a thick layer of garlic bread spread on bread. (I used presliced Italian bread from my grocery store’s bakery.) Lay on a baking sheet, buttered side up, and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes until the edges turn golden brown. You can also put the pan in the broiler, and broil for a 2-3 minutes until done.
